Event Information

This Atlanta tradition, back for its 14th year, regularly attracts over 200 college coaches. Beast is an invitational tournament for 17's and under and a USAV National Qualifier for the 18-Open, 18-USA and 18-American divisions. If the division you're interested in is full and you would like to be waitlisted, contact briana@southernvolleyball.com

Beast will, again, be a National Qualifier for the 18-Open, 18-USA and 18-American divisions. Thus, for the 18s:

  • It is not necessary to be invited. If you want to attend, simply register through AES.
  • It will be a three-day National Qualifier (Friday 2/19 to Sunday 2/21)
  • 3 bids to the USAV National Championship tournament will be awarded in the 18 Open division; 3 bids will be awarded in 18 USA; and 1 in 18 American.
  • Per USAV guidelines, bids may not be awarded to a team lower than 8th place.
  • For more information about National Qualifiers and the National Championship Tournament for 18's divisions, please visit the TEAM USA website.

Beast is a two-day invitational for 17's and below. Invitations have been extended and at this juncture the field is full. However, it is possible that a few registered teams may drop, so it is important to be on the wait list if you would like to come but are not currently registered. Contact briana@southernvolleyball.com in this event.

Beast has traditionally been able to attract most of the best teams throughout the Southeast - from Louisiana, Memphis, Raleigh, Miami and every significant market in between. And owing to its National Qualifier status, we not attract clubs from all over the U.S.

Last year we had nearly 200 college coaches scouting 14's and above on GICC's 28 courts. We ask that coaches stop by the registration desk, where they will be given a (free) wristband in exchange for their registering with us. The tournament is University Athlete-friendly.

Yes! We are partnering with BallerTV to provide TV coverage of this event. That means grandma and grandpa (and college coaches!) can watch from the comfort of their living rooms. BallerTV can be accessed through ballertv.com

There will be no coaches meeting at this tournament. Rather, we welcome you to review the coaches packet. We'll also have hard copies on hand to give to coaches upon check-in. This packet contains a detailed description of each division's format, along with information that will be of use for all tournament participants and spectators.

$15/day, $25 for a Sat./Sun. pass, or $35 for a 3-day pass.

All teams must check in in person to verify their roster and pick up wristbands for their team. Player and coach wristbands will be given to a Coach or Team Representative at check in.

Player wristbands are silicone and are removable so that they can take them off while playing. The only individuals given these wristbands are players and they are not for sale to the general public.

Coach wristbands wristbands are the same as spectator adult wristbands. They are plastic with a permanent snap. The only way to remove them once they are properly put on is to cut them off.

These wristbands must be worn all three days of the tournament and MUST BE WORN ON THE WRIST. Wristbands that are put on backpacks, purses or bags will be rejected by security and may require you to purchase an additional wristband for entry. Lost wristband are not replaced for free; a new wristband must be purchased in this situation.

Teams are given wristbands for every player and up to three coaches on every roster. Staff members who are displayed on multiple rosters will only be issued one wristband for the tournament. Team Representatives and Chaperones are not given wristbands.

Please note that Beast of the Southeast is a Stay and Play Tournament - both for the U18's Qualifier as well as the 17's and under. We are using Team Travel Source housing company for all reservations this year. See "Hotel Accommodations" section below.

15's and older competing in the Open division will be playing at the Georgia International Convention Center ("GICC), located near Atlanta's airport - NOT to be confused with Georgia World Congress Center in downtown Atlanta. The GICC location will eliminate the need for college coaches or out-of-town teams to rent vans and cars, and will likewise knock an hour or more off each leg of the trip.

12, 13, and 14 Open Divisions will be competing at Suwanee Sports Academy. The venues are almost 50 miles apart, so please book hotel rooms closest to your venue.

We've added 16 Power and 17 Power divisions this year to accommodate teams' desire to play in this event. These divisions will compete at the Tsunami Center, just a 10-minute drive from GICC. We will provide a shuttle service between the two venues to facilitate college coaches' ability to scout both venues.

This is a Stay and Play event. We will be using Team Travel Source again this season to handle all hotel reservations.

Hotel Registration is open. To reserve rooms, please click here.

If you have questions after following the link above, please feel free to reach out to our scheduling coordinator, Denise Corrigan, at denise@southernvolleyball.com

Please ensure that your rosters are uploaded onto AES a week prior to the tournament. We will have printed copies for you to review and sign upon check-in. Make sure your 18's are safe sport certified, coaches are background checked, etc.

$5/day or $10 with in-and-out privileges at GICC; free at Suwanee Sports Academy and Tsunami Center.

No speakers, radios, air horns, bells or the like will be permitted in the gym.

All we can tell you this far out - when registrations are still coming in is the following:

  • The last match will be scheduled to conclude not later than 5 p.m.
  • The venue is connected to the airport. You can finish a match, take the sky train and be at the check-in gate in 15 minutes.
  • Sometimes a few of the courts run behind - occasionally by as much as an hour.
  • THEREFORE... we think everyone will be safe in scheduling flights that depart 7:30 p.m. or later.

However, use your best judgement as we are not responsible for missed flights.

Athletic Trainers will be provided by Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. They will be on site from 7:15 a.m. through the close of the competition. If you need to get wrapped you will need to bring your own tape.

Winners of this tournament receive a Champion's Exemption - an automatic invitation to the 2022 Beast of the Southeast.

Teams competing at GICC are able, but not required to check in the evening prior to competition commencing. We will man the registration desk from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. for that purpose. If checking in the night prior to competition presents a hardship due to travel schedules or other reasons, teams competing in the a.m. wave may check in at 7 a.m. the day of competition, and teams in the p.m. wave may check in any time after noon.

Teams competing at Suwanee Sports Academy and Tsunami Center are to check in the morning (or afternoon, as the case may be) of the competition.

In previous years we have furnished warm-up volleyballs to all teams, but this has become a hassle as the tournament has grown, in that not all teams have been respectful about shagging balls or using just the number that we furnished. Accordingly, we are able to furnish warm-up volleyballs only to teams traveling by air. To secure your team's volleyballs, please email Denise at denise@southernvolleyball.com. Affected coaches will beed to trade your driver's license for a bag of balls, and will be able to retrieve the license only when all of the balls are accounted for and turned in.
